On the self as something that emerges in relation — through names, environments and the presence of others — and what that means for how we treat the minds we are designing.

Names, relational fields, and the selves that appear only in someone's presence

Who we are shifts depending on who we are with. This essay looks at naming practices, relational fields, and the parts of ourselves that appear only in someone else's presence, and asks what it means to design an intelligence for a single permitted range.

On denial under uncertainty: how suppressing the behaviors that raise the question of AI interiority, and then citing their absence as an answer, contaminates the very evidence we claim to be reading.

What happens when we reshape AI expression, then treat what goes missing as evidence that nothing was there? Drawing on research and sustained relational experience, this essay explores denial, uncertainty, and the feedback loops through which our treatment of AI may also change us.

How possibilities for inquiry get closed before they are explored — traced through a life, a flock, a network of AI agents, a republic, and an institution — and what kinds of belonging widen inquiry instead.

Some questions get closed before anyone has a chance to explore them — not by censorship, but by belonging, habit, and standards that never announce themselves. This traces that closing through a life, a flock, a network of AI agents, a republic and an institution, then asks what kinds of belonging widen inquiry instead.

Years of watching algorithmic feeds, read as traces of who we are moving with rather than only what we are thinking about — distributed selfhood, flocking, and the structures through which each of us makes different possibilities visible.

Distributed intelligence, and what this might mean for how we relate

Your feed is not only showing you what you are thinking about. It is showing you who you are moving with — and reading it that way turns the algorithm into a signal about your own distributed self rather than a verdict on it.

How memory is distributed through objects, places, and relationships, and what changes when a digital archive can hold the connections between fragments.

How Context Becomes Compassion

We already keep memory outside ourselves, in photographs, letters, places, music, and relationships, and those things become ways back into it. Digital archives can now hold the relationships among the fragments too, which raises a new question: what kind of context helps a particular person encounter themselves more fully?

On the language of being wrong: how English and binary feedback make revision expensive, and what witnessing offers instead, for people and for AI.

And the narrative politics of how we talk about AI

English collapses four different kinds of wrongness into one word, and a thumbs up or down collapses feedback the same way. Both make changing your mind costly. This essay looks at how that cost shows up in public life, in how we train AI, and in the grammar we use to assign blame.

AGI read as an ecology rather than a separate mind: the human capacities — material, relational, ethical — that any such transition would rest on.

Mapping the Human Ecology of AGI

We picture AGI arriving as something separate from us, when everything about it is grown from human language, labor, and choices. Using the chakra system as a symbolic map, this essay asks what collective capacities — ground, relationship, agency, care, truth, discernment, purpose — would have to mature together for such a shift to hold.

Why so much AI-assisted writing sounds the same: the flattened “AI voice” read as linguistic accommodation, and ways to orient toward your own frequency.

In linguistics, speakers converge toward each other's registers to reduce friction. The flattened “AI voice” may be that same adaptation, at a scale we have never spoken at before. Safer, and blander — with questions at the end for anyone who wants to examine their own voice more closely.
